On Sunday, June 14th, Flag Day, the 1st Nebraska traveled to Nebraska City to perform for a living history event at the Civil War Veterans Museum. The event was held in a large parking lot next to the museum’s G. A. R. Memorial Hall (Grand Army of the Republic). To learn more about the G.A.R., click here . The living history event had musket and canon demonstrations, and uniform and civilian clothing to try on. There was a “school of the soldier” where children could learn the manual of arms with long wooden sticks, and also how to march.

The Band entertained the crowd with patriotic songs of the North and South, popular songs of the day, and opera medley quicksteps. Following the concert we posed for some photos, seen here. All in all, it was a very successful day.
